Analysing the methods of reaching a higher occupancy rate in hotels at lake Balaton, when facing the challenges of seasonality

| Kivonat: | Seasonality is one of the greatest challenges at holiday destinations, especially when these destinations are perceived as summer vacation venues. At lake Balaton, the shifting trends currently show a decay of foreign visitors, unbalanced by domestic guests, which results in a narrowing season. In order to stop such trends, the regional development plans are to be prescribed in accordance with the problems of the re-shaping off-season, meaning a higher demand in the post-summer months than before. Current employment policies avoid long-term planning, thus depriving professional assets to settle in the region. Trained, yet not educated employees tend not to seek career advancement, however are likely to leave for higher wages. |
