| Kivonat: | This thesis focuses on tourism planning in Transcarpathia, a historically complex and culturally diverse region in western Ukraine with a significant Hungarian minority. Drawing from both personal attachment and scholarly inquiry, the research explores how the region's tourism landscape has evolved over time, emphasizing the influence of both historical trajectories and contemporary Ukrainian governance. Amid the ongoing war and shifting geopolitical context, Transcarpathia’s unique heritage and scenic value remain largely underappreciated in mainstream tourism discourse. This study argues for the strategic development of tourism in lesser-known regions like Transcarpathia, asserting that thoughtful, localized planning can transform these areas into vital cultural and economic assets. The research highlights the importance of sustainable tourism not only as a means of regional development but also as a tool for preserving cultural identity and supporting local communities. By examining both the historical underpinnings and current policy environment, the thesis positions Transcarpathia as a region with untapped potential to play a more prominent role in Ukraine’s tourism sector, particularly in light of its geographical and cultural linkages with the European Union. |
