Description
Abstract:Cultural tourism has been considered as an essential pillar of the global tourism industry, which promotes economic growth, forms cross-cultural understanding, and offers a way to create a national identity (Richards, 2021). With globalization intensifying, cultural tourism has ceased to be a mere tourism of sightseeing, but a platform for cultural exchange and economic cooperation. Despite its status as the leading global tourist, China’s growth in cultural tourism has been limited to their status as a destination market and source market, whereas Europe, representing the most dominant culture in the world has demonstrated a substantial growth in cultural tourism (UNWTO, 2023). This section examines the globalization of cultural tourism and its economic and social influences.
